- Egypt Air passenger plane was hijacked while flying from the Egyptian coastal city of Alexandria to the capital ,Cairo.The hijacker was using a fake Suicide Belt.All the crew members and passengers were freed in 6 hour operation.

- Fairfax has brought 33% stake in Bangalore international Airport Limited (BIAL) for Rs.2149 Crores. Fairfax is owned by Canadian Billionaire Prem Watsa.
- The first direct container vessel has been sent to Bangladesh from India(Krishnapatnam Port).The vessel is carrying Cotton set.This step is part of the shipping agreement.
- Government will infuse 5050 crores in PSU banks.The contenders for the infusion are Central Bank of India,UCO bank,Indian Bank,Oriental Bank of Commerce,Vijaya Bank and United Bank of India.
- India will host FIFA Under-17 world cup in 2017.The venues for the World cup games are 1-JLN Stadium, New Delhi; 2-D.Y. Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai; 3-JLN Stadium, Kochi; 4-Salt Lake Stadium, Kolkata; 5 JLN Stadium, Fatorda Goa and I.G. Stadium Guwahati. The Cabinet Ministry has given approval for the program and 95 crore fund has been allocated for the World Cup.
- Bharat Heavy Electrical Limited has commissioned the second 40 MW Hydropower Generating Unit at Teesta low dam Hydroelectric Project (HEP) stage IV in West Bengal.
- 6th Economic Census of Himachal Pradesh was released by Pradeep Chauhan, the Economic Advisor of Himachal Government.Himachal Pardesh was first state in the country to complete the census and release the report and the parameters and methods adopted by the state are being followed by other states Economic Status 2016.
- United States of America has returned an Ancient Statue of Hindu God Ram to Cambodia.
- The US Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) have signed an MoU to facilitate USD 848 million (Rs. 5,681 crore) in funding to develop solar parks across India.
- Biker Pallavi Fauzdar has become 1st solo women to ride across Mana Pass in Uttrakhand.
- Russian Grandmaster Sergey Karjakin has won 2016 world chess Candidates Tournament held in Moscow.
