List of First 20 Smart Cities of India

Yesterday Union Urban Development Minister Shri.Venkaiah Naidu issued a list of First 20 Smart Cities of India.These cities were selected from a list of 98 cities across India.These Cities will receive funds from Union government which will kickstart the process of development in these Cities.A list of 40 and 38 cities will be added to this list in next two years.

Ans.Smart city is the Urban region which is highly advanced in terms of communication ,Industries ,Infrastructure and living standards are comparable to as in European Countries.These Cities will be developed using many technological platforms that will not be limited to sensors and Data Centers.

5.Giving an Identity to the city based on the economic activity it has.This includes local cuisines,health care ,industry and many others.

Facts about the Smart Cities in India :

1.Out of 20 Smart cities ,13 cities are in the list of most polluted cities of the world.
2.These 20 cities were selected out of 98 cities for the first phase of development of smart cities.
3.100 Smart cities will be developed by 2022.
4.Rs 38,693 crore will be spent on area development and Rs 12,109 crore on 56 pan-city solutions.
5. The Government will invest around 50802 crores in the Smart city project for the next 5 years and the rest amount of money will be generated from foreign investments.
