Hello Friends , today I’m going to shareEverything About 35th National Games of India 2015.The 2015 National Games of India, is being held from 31 January 2015 to 14 February 2015 across seven districts in Kerala, India. Kerala is hosting 2nd time the national games after it hosted the 27th National Games in 1987.

Motto: Get Set Play

Opening Ceremony: The opening ceremony of 35th National games Kerala was hosted at Green field stadium Karyavattam, Trivandrum on 31 January 2015 at 6.00 PM. Union minister of urban development Shri Venkaiah Naidu inaugurated the opening ceremony of national games 2015.The Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy, the Sports Minister, Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, the Union Minister of State for Sports, Sarbananda Sonowal, IOA president N. Ramachandranand M.P Shashi Tharoor presided over the function.

Brand Ammbessdor: Former cricket captain Sachin Tendulkar was selected as the goodwill ambassador for the games. His has set the tone of excitement to a fever pitch among the masses. Sachin is associating with National games through the Get Set Play initiative.The goal behind his association is to instill the spirit of sportsmanship in the populace and boost the popularity of National Games. He has been an integral part of all the National Games promotional activities. As part of his role as the face of National Games, Sachin also made an appearance at Run Kerala Run on January 20th.

Logo:The visual Identity of the 35th National Games has been carefully crafted to capture the renewed spirit of the Games and the true essence of the host State, Kerala.

Mascot: The mascot of the 35th National Games is”’Ammu”’, The Great Hornbill, or the Great Indian Hornbill, the State bird of Kerala. The selection of the Great Hornbill as the Games Mascot reflects our concern for conservation this is a species facing extinction. The choice of a feminine name for the Mascot is a tribute to the women of Kerala and is a reminder that Kerala is proud to have a gender ratio which is tilted in favour of women – the only State in India that can claim that honour.

Games Village: The Games Village is constructed based on the novel concept of Prefabricated Housing Technology. The Prefabricated housing would go well with the concept of ‘Green Games’ as it is environmental friendly, light weight, energy efficient and faster to construct. The Games Village is a ‘miniature India’ as this venue is supposed to be the most vocal and visual representation of India’s national integration at the Games.

Sports Event: There are 33 sports disciplines in 2015 Kerala Games.Yachting is newly included event. Aquatics (50 disciplines ) and Athletics (44 disciplines) are the biggest and most popular events in Kerala Games 2015, Shooting (38 disciplines) is another big event.

Apart from this The National Games Secretariat (the “NGS”), Nodal Agency of the State Government of Kerala, mandated with the responsibility of organizing the 35th National Games of India is launching an information app on Android platform titled “National Games Kerala 2015”. Using this app cell phone users can easily know the schedule of events, results and current medal tally.

History of National Games: The Games were held every two years from 1924 as Indian Olympic Games and were renamed as National Games when they were first held in Bombay in 1940.It was started by a famous person Sagnik Poddar who reads in St.Stephen’s School.
