Hello friends, In this post I will tell about2 Most Important Schemes For Girls in 2015 . The schemes targets to imporve the girl child ratio. These schemes are Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (Save Girl Child, Educate Girl Child) and Sukanya Samridhi Yojana (girl child prosperity scheme).

Objectives:

>Prevent gender biased sex selective elimination.

>Ensure survival & protection of the Girl Child.

>Ensure education of the Girl Child.

>Improve the Nutrition Status of Girl Child.

>Promote a protective environment for Girl Child.

1. Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (Save Girl Child, Educate Girl Child): Prime Minister Modi lauched this scheme on 22 january,2015 on International Day of Girl Child in Panipat, Haryana. Other senior Cabinet ministers Maneka Gandhi, Ravi Shankar Prasad, J P Nadda, Smriti Irani, Haryana CM M L Khattar and actor Madhuri Dixit( Brand Ambessdor) also present. Gender equity and gender prosperity oriented, this scheme views girl child’s welfare from multiple perspectives and takes steps to achieve the same. However, the scheme is only effective if implemented with rigour and dedication. The scheme has the potential to bring about attitude as well as social change in the desired direction provided it gains momentum through effective implementation.

Action Plan:-

a.) Promote Early registration of pregnancy and institutional delivery.

b.) Ensure Panchayats display gudda-guddi board with number of new born boys and girls every month.

c.) Hold Panchayats responsible for child marriage.

d.) Creat parliamentary forum of MPs representing 100 districts.

2.) Sukanya Samridhi Yojana (girl child prosperity scheme): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 22 January 2015 launched a small deposit scheme Sukanya Samridhi Yojana for girl child under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) campaign. The Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana has many positive implications for gender equity and prevention of early/child marriage. This scheme provides financial impetus to parents of girl children. However, the scheme would have greater impact if it were not restricted to just 2 girl children.

About the Sukanya Samridhi Account:-

>Sukanya Samridhi Yojana will enable parents to open bank accounts of girls who are under 10 years of age.

>Sukanya Samridhi Account will fetch an interest rate of 9.1 percent and provide income tax rebate.

>Sukanya Samridhi Account can be opened at any time from the birth of a girl child till she attains the age of 10 years with a minimum deposit of 1000 rupees.

>A maximum of 1.5 lakh rupees can be deposited during the financial year. The account can be opened in any post office or authorised branches of commercial banks.

>Deposit to be made via cash, cheque, DD. Minimum deposit of INR 1000 or else penalty of INR 50 levied.

>Rate of interest notified by Government and compounded yearly and Calculation of interest similar to PPF

>Amount deposited towards the account can be deducted for upto INR 1.5 lakhs under section 80C

>The account will remain operative for 21 years from the date of opening of the account or marriage of the girl child after attaining 18 years of age.

> To meet the requirement of higher education expenses, partial withdrawal of 50 percent of the balance amount will be allowed after the girl child has attended 18 years of age.

IMPORTANT:- Union Government’s Sukanya Samridhi Yojna under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) campaign has begun in Jaunpur district in the state of Uttar Pradesh.The first account under the scheme was opened in the name of a three-year old girl Vedika Tiwari in this district by her parents.
